Gracie Barra opening up in Federal Way.Gracie Barra of Federal Way Washington will be opening up in two months. We will have classes from 4 PM to 9 PM kids adults program. We will be having a class also. Monday through Saturday. Private lessons on Sunday. We will be giving more details soon

Fourth of July come celebrate with Gracie Barra, bring your family and friends. Were going to start playing volleyball at 6:00 PM we have a full court. At seven o’clock going to have a BBQ hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs with Texas potatoes and potato salad with chips and drinks. The fireworks start around 9:30 PM. For all the overwhelming support I’m sorry I will not be teaching on Tuesday or able to come up to say goodbye. Last Saturday night at 10:45 p.m. I was given a call and said that they did not need me to teach anymore in Buckley. They had another teacher and new system. This is all I know. This wasn’t planned by me. I had planned on coming back to teach the kids class Tuesdays and Thursdays and start coming up on Saturday. Also closing down Monday’s and Wednesday’s so I could help collect the money to pay the rent to get more organized and some control of the situation. During the summer months it’s always low and I thought I could rile up the troops. I had no idea this was coming or had any plan of this. I volunteered my time to teach; I don’t have a contract or any other responsibilities to allow me to teach in that location. I’m sorry, I know some people have spent a lot of money for Barra gis and shirts and shorts. I know someone who just spent $300 last week. I didn’t see this coming and I was planning on opening up a school in Bonny Lake soon with the same owner. Now that this has happened I want to open up sooner so that anybody who feels like keeping with the gracie barra program can do so. I will volunteer my time and will try to find a place where the cost is low for the students. Some people have called me and paid a year in advance for the Gracie Barra program. I did not know that people had paid in advance for a year. I’m sorry but I was not in control of that information or any of the finances of the school. I will honor anybody’s contract to teach them for free for the next year. If anybody would like to come up to Federal Way they are welcome. I am working on finding a place in Bonny Lake as soon as possible to honor those contracts and to keep up anybody’s training and ideas of Gracie Barra. Gracie Barra system is a worldwide system their goal is to create a positive outlook in the community by teaching great self-defense and sports techniques for fighting. Gracie Barra has rules and regulations so that they can get Gracie jujitsu into the Olympics. This is only one of their goals. It takes a lot a responsibility a lot organization and the proper system and rules to get into the Olympics this is not easy. But Gracie Barra is one of the leading schools and systems to achieve this high standard of performance.

Going Away Party

Thanks guys for showing up last Saturday at Seattle GRACIE BARRA. Remember class in Seattle starts at 11 you should be ready to go at 10:45 AM. Classes between 11 AM and 12:30 PM. But remember there is no class this Saturday, June 12 at any of the Gracie Barra schools in Washington. We are meeting this Saturday at 10:45 AM at Foster’s parking lot for the free jujitsu seminar.

On Saturday, July 12th, 2010 all Adult students are being asked to attend at Fosters for his special seminar on this day. No regular classes will be held in Buckley or Federal Way for BJJ. This is a great opportunity for you our students to expand their training experience and work with others outside you comfort zone. Remember we are are working toward a similar goal of improvement and we need to work together to improve as a team and as we grow.

When you achieve your black belt most people quit. They think okay now I’m a black belt now I know everything. This is wrong this is only the beginning. This is where you find more responsibility to understanding problems and being able to solve those problems with one’s own skill. And to refine the problem so it flows. Also being a model student himself. This is the beginning of all new adventure.

Kids Class Promotions

This Thursday May 27th 2010 we will be holding promotions for the Buckley kids. Yellow belts will be from 6pm to 7pm along with class session, then Blue belts from 7pm to 8pm. Let’s give them a big CONGRATULATIONS for passing the course of Gracie Barra.

Blue belt

A side from black belt blue belt is probably the rank in which students will spend most of their time. This is because they will start developing their own ways of doing things after they have learned the fundamentals of jujitsu. Blue belts start to develop different games. Therefore, the blue belt is the belt of exploring jujitsu and movement of their own body and capabilities athletic and capabilities mentally and emotionally. To learn how to handle pressure stresses of the game.

We will look at this more tomorrow. Can’t wait to see everybody in Buckley today on Tuesday. Keep on working hard all the federal way students. We will see you back on Wednesday.

Renzo Gracie Seminar (Slideshow)

On May 8th we were honored to have Renzo Gracie come to Seattle and provide us with some great tips and techniques. He was cool and calm as he spoke to many participants who attended. It was a fun event for everyone from child to adult. Renzo was entertaining and interesting as he talked about some of his past experiences with other fighters and with the explanation of techniques. He made it easy to understand and fun to work. I look forward to attending another seminar with him soon.
